Police say they've seen a drop in crime this week and they believe it has a lot to do with the snow.

Darlington County deputies say they've had only a few reports for actual crime, especially property crimes, since Monday.

NewsChannel 15 talked with other law enforcement agencies in the Pee Dee and they tell us it's been pretty calm for them also. They all seem to think it points to the winter weather.

"We have seen a significant drop in crime over the last three days with the cold weather and snow coming in. This event has caused a lot of people to be home when would be thieves would be out stealing something," Darlington County Sheriffs Captain Andy Locklair told NewsChannel 15.

Deputies say they hope the trend continues, but not necessarily the cold weather.
