Poiette McGill-Bromell officially resigned as a Marion City Councilwoman during a regular meeting Tuesday night.

The Marion City Administrator says Bromell stepped down because she is moving out of the city. Her resignation is effective immediately.

An election to fill the vacant seat for District Five will be held in April. Three additional city council seats are also expected to be filled during that general election.

Bromell was in the middle of her second term of six years. She served for four years during her first term.
