Florence City leaders closed the Martin Luther King, Junior Bridge on Church Street just after 8 a.m. Monday.

City leaders say the bridge is very icy and they didn't want to take any chances.

Department of Transportation and Florence city crews salted and sanded the bridge and it opened about four hours later.

Officials say they could close the bridge again Tuesday depending on conditions.

You are asked to take alternate routes around the bridge including Dargan, East Palmetto and Darlington Streets.
