Florence City leaders closed the Martin Luther King, Junior Bridge on Church Street just after 8 a.m. Monday.

City leaders say the bridge is very icy and they didn't want to take any chances. They aren't sure how long the bridge will be closed, but say it could be for the duration of the ice storm or until conditions clear.

You are asked to take alternate routes around the bridge including Dargan, East Palmetto and Darlington Streets.
