(AP) -- Two Spartanburg County sheriff's deputies have been hurt when they tried to arrest a man and woman at a convenience store.

Master Deputy Tony Ivey says the officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the store around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Ivey says a man threw something behind the store and walked away. One deputy discovered it was a gun and the other deputy tried to stop the man.

Ivey says the woman attacked a deputy as they struggled with the man.

Ivey says Cpl. David Traxler was knocked unconscious and Deputy Chad Dunning was injured. Dunning was treated and released from a hospital.

Traxler was still being treated late Friday morning.

The man and woman were taken into custody and charges are pending.
