Chad Prosser, director of South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, was honored on the Grand Strand Thursday night.
The Myrtle Beach Area of Chamber of Commerce held a reception for him.
Prosser, a Grand Strand native, says since he's been in office it's been his goal to market Myrtle Beach as a top tourist destination, but he still sees room for improvement.
"We have the hotel rooms. We have the attractions. We have the restaurants. If we're going to see continued growth, we've got to look at some of those market segments like group businesses and some segmented businesses like ecotourism," said Prosser.
He goes to say the Grand Strand has seen the economic benefits of his work with increased growth and improvements to Myrtle Beach State Park and Atalaya.
