An organization that works to find resources for the homeless is gearing up for its annual homeless count.
The Eastern Carolina Homelessness Organization held a workshop Thursday at the Community Development Corporation in Bennettsville. They're teaching police, community leaders, teachers and social workers how to count the homeless in their area.
This is a part of the "Homeless Point in Time Count" that takes place on January 27th.
"You see them a lot during the winter. They seek places that are warm, and also during the summer time and in summer time they normally go to the beach because a lot of people like the beach. so we have a big count there as well," said Lloyd Florres with ECHO.
Officials say in Horry County they counted 900 homeless people in 2009 and 400 in the Pee Dee.
