The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce started running its 2011 television advertisements in 13 cold weather markets on January 3.

The ads will run for six weeks in both New England and the Midwest, but the targeted markets and creative messaging will change throughout the year.

At the height of the TV advertising, the Myrtle Beach Chamber will have a presence in up to 70 markets like Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C.

The advertising effort is a year-long investment and will cost an estimated $18 to $20 million.

Chamber officials hope to draw more visitors during the spring and fall months.
