The Byrnes Schools in Florence placed John King, 44, on administrative leave. He is not to come on campus for any events or have any contact with students.

Headmaster John Colby is evaluating King's teacher's contract to see how they will proceed.

Charleston police arrested King last week in an internet predator sting. They say he tried to have sex with a minor girl.

King teaches math and is an assistant basketball coach at the Byrnes Schools.

School leaders say his background check didn't indicate any problems.

King is charged with three counts of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
