Those who protect and serve, served diners Thursday to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Officers, troopers and deputies from Florence and Darlington counties put down their pistols and picked up pitchers.

They waited tables at Fatz Cafe in Florence for the annual Tip-a-Cop Fundraiser.

The money they get in tips will go to the games.

Florence Sheriff Kenney Boone says, "What makes it so important is seeing the smiles on these participants faces when they participate in the Special Olympics."

The fundraiser continues Friday during the lunch and dinner hours at the Florence Fatz Cafe.
