Man arrested for Citi-Trends shooting has prior arrests

NewsChannel 15 has learned a Dillon County man who police say a shot his ex-girlfriend was convicted of shooting two other women 10 years ago.

Police say 33 year old Derrick Jones shot Ebony Bethea in the back at Citi-Trends in Dillon, Monday.

In 2000, Dillon County deputies arrested him for shooting his former girlfriend and a teenage girl at nightclub.

A state police background check shows Jones pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and was sentenced to three years probation for that crime.

He's now being held in the Dillon County Detention Center without bond.
