Tonight was supposed to be an election night for the Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council. It turned out to be a bust. At 6pm this evening, staff members waited to hold an election to fill a board seat for a Representative of the Poor for Area Two, Horry County.

Area two includes Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, and Socastee.

The group will hold another election next month. The Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council hasn't set a date yet.

Contenders interested in the board seat must be at least 21 years of age and must reside in one of the communities in area two. You also need to register at the next Waccamaw EOC meeting and have proof of residency.
