(AP) -- BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) - A Bluffton home for homeless, pregnant teens says it needs $11,500 by the end of the year to continue operations.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that local groups have contributed about half of the $22,500 needed to keep the Room at the Inn of the Carolinas open. The home fell behind on its rent by six months.

The home's $300,000 annual budget depends mostly on private donors. Officials say contributions have dropped in the past few years.

The president of the home, Albert Hodges, says an October fundraiser brought in only about half of the usual amount.

Room and the Inn provides classes on childbirth, counseling, meals, parenting and life skills, transportation, and shelter for women under 21 who are expecting and have nowhere to go.
