(AP) -- ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - An Anderson County family of four has lost their home in a fire authorities say started with their Christmas tree.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reports that firefighters were called to the home of Randy and Leslie Childers around 11:30 p.m. Monday and had the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
Fire Chief Billy Gibson says the family's live tree may have been too dry, or there could have been a short in the lights on the tree.
Leslie Childers says her husband was the only family member home when he heard what sounded like an explosion in the house and saw the home engulfed in flames.
The American Red Cross has given the family money for food and clothing.
