(AP) -- Charlotte, NC (AP) -- Police have identified a woman who walked into a Charlotte television station, pulled out what turned out to be an unloaded gun and put it to her head.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman Bob Fey identified the woman as 51-year-old Wendy Cosby Naidas. No hometown was given.
Fey said the woman was taken to a hospital for mental evaluation and that investigators will determine whether charges will be filed.
WSOC-TYV general manager Joe Pomilla says the woman was distraught over her financial situation and walked into the lobby of the station during the evening news broadcast.
The station went off the air for about an hour and the building was evacuated and locked down. No one was taken hostage or injured and police took the woman into custody.
