North Myrtle Beach city council members met Monday afternoon and decided to delay the repainting of the swing bridge until November 2011. The project was originally scheduled for this winter.

According to city spokesman Pat Dowling, the repainting will begin November 1, 2011. At that time, the bridge will be open to vehicle traffic, but occasionally traffic cones will be used to direct traffic. From December 2011 to mid-January 2012, the bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic.

Dowling said the project will take 91 days to complete. The maximum time allowed the contractor for complete closure of the bridge to all vehicle traffic will be seven weeks.
