NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Police in North Charleston have postponed a program to give away gift cards in exchange for guns as part of an annual effort to crack down on violence.
The North Charleston Community and Police Panel said on its website that its third annual Gun Buyback Initiative is postponed until January because of bad weather Saturday.
The program offers $100 gift cards for handguns and $50 gift cards for long guns or shotguns.
All weapons are processed by police before they are destroyed.
Last year, the effort rounded up 127 guns.
