Thursday night, the Florence Police Community Action Team helped Santa deliver some early Christmas presents to some needy children.

The officers raised money and gave gifts to more than 80 kids in Florence.

Teenagers in the police department's Explorer Program dressed as elves and helped Santa pass out gifts.

The officers say they look forward to this every year, and it's their goal to help those in need.

"It was important to make sure the kids do have something for Christmas and also to show the kids police officers are here to help, and we do all we can to make sure they can have a good Christmas," said Cpl. Van Jackson with the Florence Police Community Action Team.

The officers also treated the youngsters to a slice of pizza and other goodies.
