A 16-year-old Marion County girl died Thursday morning when the car she was riding in veered off the road and hit a utility pole.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson says Heather Rowell was killed in the wreck at Grady Road near Highway 501 in Marion County.

Highway Patrol says the accident happened just before 5:00 a.m.

The car had just crossed a bridge, so it's possibly they hit some ice.

The driver, 18-year-old Larry Brown is charged with driving too fast for conditions, driving under suspension, and a seat belt violation.

His injuries were not life threatening.
