Tuesday night was Horry County Council Chairman Liz Gilland's last council meeting. She did not run for re-election.

She has served for the past 8 years.

Gilland says she surprised herself, because she felt nervous for this last meeting. "It's just something about being the last time. It's really closing a chapter in my life."

Gilland also left with a surprise of her own. She announced she was giving $22,000 to the City of Conway Recreation Department.
