Several local organizations spent $25,000 on toys for children in need at the Garden City Walmart Monday.

Volunteers with the David Bennett Foundation, Collin's Kids and Help 4 Kids filled more than 50 carts with games, figurines, cars and dolls.

The organizations have spent countless hours raising the money through community supported fundraisers.

About 20 volunteers spent several hours in aisles at Walmart to buy toys for more than 1,900 kids who would otherwise not have a toy to open this Christmas.

Help 4 Kids is an all volunteer organization that started in 1989 to help children with school needs so they can walk in the classroom with the same supplies as their peers. Through its Back Pack Buddies program, weekend food bags are given to children who might be at risk of going hungry when school is out.

Collin's Kids was started through the David Bennett Foundation which is dedicated to helping kids in Horry County through honoring a young boy and family friend, Collin Rabon.
