You can get your hands on a little history through an auction by the South Carolina Treasurer's Office.

You can find Eisenhower dollars and Kennedy half dollars, as well as watches and Citadel pins. They're all unclaimed property left in safe deposit boxes that were turned over to the state treasurer's office in the late 1990's.

The state returned some of the contents to the owners they could find, but state law says the rest gets sold.

The safe deposit boxes date back as far as 1934.
