(AP) -- Police say the shooting death of a man in Greer last month was an act of self-defense.
Greer police say 21-year-old Rusty Jones was justified when he shot 24-year-old Justin Dillard on Nov. 10.
Police say Dillard and went to an apartment and started a conversation with Jones and three other adults.
A police statement says Dillard pointed a gun at Jones and told him he was going to shoot. The statement says Jones pulled a gun and fired.
Dillard was shot four times. Spartanburg County sheriff's deputies and state troopers responded to the neighborhood when a crowd of up to 200 people gathered after the shooting. Officers broke up several fights.
Police had named Jones a person of interest and he turned himself in for questioning.
