SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) - State police are investigating the second fatal shooting by a Salisbury officer in the past month.
Multiple media outlets reported that Officer K.H. Boehm shot 37-year-old Robert Faulkner of Salisbury during a scuffle Friday while Boehm was trying to arrest Faulkner.
Police Chief Rory Collins said Faulkner had pinned the officer down and was hitting him when Boehm fired three shots, hitting Faulkner in the arm, shoulder and chest.
Faulkner later died at a hospital. Boehm was treated and released from a local hospital for his injuries.
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting as well as one last month in which a Salisbury officer shot and killed a man who authorities say beat his father with a bat before threatening the officer.
