(AP) -- A 33-year-old man has been killed after his minivan collided with a train at a Richland County crossing.

Multiple media outlets report Friday that Lazaro Lopez of Columbia died at the scene.

Highway Patrol Lance Corp. Josef Robinson says Lopez's minivan was hit by a Norfolk Southern train as he attempted to cross the tracks in Gadsden on Wednesday evening. No one else was in the vehicle.

Troopers say there were no crossing arms at the tracks, but the lights and bells were operating properly.
