Sumter County authorities say a Mayesville man has been charged in the beating death of his 85-year-old mother.
Jail records show 59-year-old Alexander Wilson was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday.
Multiple media outlets report that deputies found Elizabeth Wilson in her Mayesville home at 8:45 p.m. Monday. Coroner Harvin Bullock says Wilson died after she was beaten with a baseball bat.
A neighbor says one of Wilson's sons ran out of the home yelling that his brother had gone crazy and killed their mother.
It was not immediately clear if Alexander Wilson had an attorney.
