(AP) -- FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The Army's largest training installation is holding its final round of Thanksgiving feasts with festivities at Fort Jackson for 1,300 soldiers, military retirees and their guests.
The basic training post wraps up its celebrations Thursday with a final dinner at the post's 120th Adjutant General dining facility, ending several days of holiday events.
Army officials say Fort Jackson's 12 dining centers were hosting more than 14,000 people in a series of meals that began earlier this week. They were serving more than 4,000 pounds of turkey, nearly 3,000 pounds of ham and 1,400 pies.
The post also moved its basic training graduation to Wednesday, instead of on its regular Thursday rotation, so soldiers and staff would be able to spend the holiday with their families.
