(AP) -- A park on the South Carolina-North Carolina state line will be growing by more than 300 acres thanks to a give by a Greenville organization.
Multiple media outlets reported that Naturaland Trust said Monday it has given South Carolina 305 acres of mountain land to add to Jones Gap Start Park.
The addition includes Grassy Top Mountain, the state's 11th tallest peak at nearly 3,300 feet.
The Nature Conservancy is working to raise money to buy 85 acres next to the donated land. That group already has acquired more than 200 acres to be added to the park.
Frank Holleman of Naturaland Trust says his organization also has reached an agreement to protect the Asbury Hills Methodist Camp at the base of Caesars Head State Park from development.
