CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Race fans will get a chance to drive the Charlotte Motor Speedway, but they will be driving at looking-at-Christmas-lights speeds.
The speedway opens its 1 million LED holiday display Monday. Track officials say they expect more than 60,000 vehicles and a total of 250,000 people to drive by the displays on the track and in the infield during the six-week program.
There will be almost 500 different displays, including a nativity scene with live actors, carriage rides, decorated trees and, of course, Santa. One display will synchronize lights with holiday music that visitors can tune in on a specified FM radio station.
The display will be open until Jan. 2.
