The incident happened just after 5:30 Sunday afternoon on Choppee Road about ten miles north of the City of Georgetown.

The fatal accident involved three cars.

State troopers say the driver of a Ford pickup truck, 72-year-old Harry J. Lawrence, passed a car in a no passing zone.

Officials say Lawrence hit 66-year-old Theresa Linnen Holmes head on.

Georgetown County coroner Kenny Johnson pronounced the victims dead at the scene and says Lawrence was thrown from the car.

Both victims lived in Georgetown.

Highway Patrol is investigating.
