South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster
Two hundred people have now been arrested by the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force or ICAC.
The task force was formed by Attorney General Henry McMaster in 2005, after the Criminal Solicitation of a Minor law was passed in 2004.
"This milestone in our fight against Internet Child Predators in South Carolina is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of the seventy-seven law enforcement officers in the state that work in daily cooperation with each other to make this Task Force a success," said McMaster.
He went on to remind the public that the milestone 200th arrest highlights the dangers children face on the Internet.
Since 2005, 55 law enforcement agencies from all over the state have joined the task force.
The US Justice Department provides grant money for training for officers in the member agencies, as well as computer equipment used to conduct the undercover stings.
The Attorney General's Office says it has prosecuted 142 of the 200 people arrested, resulting in 139 guilty pleas and three guilty findings by jury.
