(AP) -- CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - One of Microsoft's top executives is visiting Clemson University to discuss data processing and storage.

Tony Hey is Microsoft's corporate vice president of external research. He is scheduled to speak at Clemson on Thursday at the McKissick Theater in the Hendrix Student Center. Hey is also taking part in a faculty round-table discussion.

Hey leads Microsoft's efforts to build public-private partnerships with scientific and engineering communities, academic and research institutions and government agencies.

He previously served as director of the e-Science Initiative in the United Kingdom, managing the government's efforts to give scientists and researchers access to new technologies.
