Police were called to a meeting of the Waccamaw EOC'S board of directors Tuesday night after supporters of an ousted board member made pleas to have him reinstated and another person also put on the board.
The group claims because people who the EOC provides assistance for voted, Abdullah Mustafa and another person should be allowed on the board of directors.
However, the chairman of the board of directors, Zacharius Grate, says only a vote by the board is binding.
Mustafa disagreed saying, "Anytime voters come out and vote for someone, this is America, democratic process for the people, by the people, of the people, and this organization, I emphasize don't belong to Zachary Grate, it belongs to the people."
The state temporarily halted funding of the EOC several months ago after finding the organization wasn't in compliance on several issues. After changes within the organization, including kicking Mustafa off the board, the funding was restored.
