An organization that responds to high infant mortality rates and low birth weight babies held its annual regional meeting Tuesday.

Pee Dee Healthy Start's consortium meeting took place at the Florence County Public Library.

The organization's goal is to improve the health of mothers and babies in the Pee Dee region.

Tuesday, they met with officials from the community, church and public health organizations to find ways to reduce infant mortality rates and other negative birth outcome disparities.
