(AP) -- One-time U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene is back in a South Carolina court on an obscenity charge.

Greene was in court in Columbia for a hearing on the case Tuesday. It was not immediately clear what was planned during the session.

Greene was arrested last November and was charged with showing pornography to a University of South Carolina student in a campus computer lab.

In June Greene was the surprise winner of the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. He lost the Nov. 2 election to incumbent Republican Jim DeMint.

Greene faces a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent. In August, a Richland County grand jury indicted Greene on a felony charge of disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity.
