The three deputies involved in a shooting over the weekend will not be placed on administrative leave, according to Darlington County Sheriff's Captain Andy Locklair.

Deputies say they responded to a domestic dispute call at a home on Wilson Street near Hartsville and got involved in a gunfight with a man at the home.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. He is still in the hospital and expected to recover.

Locklair said Sheriff Wayne Byrd decided not to place the officers on leave because he believes they acted within the confines of their duty. Locklair said Byrd says the actions were appropriate and they did everything they were supposed to do in dealing with the situation.

None of the deputies were hurt.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
