The City of Hartsville dedicated its long-awaited Hartsville Veteran's Memorial on this Veterans Day.

About 1,200 people came out to Burry Park for the event. The memorial is made up of five bronze panels. Each has a sculpture showing soldiers fighting in five major wars in US history.

Inside the monuments are lists containing the names of Hartsville veterans living and deceased. Charles Streater's father is listed for serving in two wars. "It was a proud moment for me and my family, my father especially, because he's proud of what he did overseas in World War II and Korea."

The monuments are arranged in the shape of a pentagon. They're also intended to serve as educational tools for students in the Pee Dee.
