(AP) -- A proposal to allow carriage tours in Bluffton has supporters saying they would be an asset to the town on South Carolina's southern coast and opponents saying nay.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports 30 people attended a Tuesday workshop on the idea. The Old Town Carriage Company wants to offer carriage tours and supporters say they would add to the ambiance of the community.
But Scott Corkern says the tours would make the town smell "like a horse bathroom."
Police Chief David McAllister is writing an ordinance to govern the tours including requirements that guides take a town history class and that horses wear diapers.
Town council considers the ordinance next month.
