(AP) -- A state legislator's son is charged with indecent exposure and resisting arrest outside a women's dorm at the University of South Carolina.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported Monday that 27-year-old Kevin Parker of Boiling Springs is accused of exposing himself to female students late Oct. 30 as they entered a dorm on the Columbia campus. Parker also is accused of hitting an officer in the chest before trying to flee.

An arrest warrant says Parker stood outside the dorm near some bushes. It says he ran only a few feet before slipping on the grass and that he admitted he initially gave a false name.

Parker is the son of Rep. Steve Parker of Boiling Springs. The freshman Republican says it's an unjust charge, and that his son was just urinating in the bushes after a game.
