The parents of a teenager killed in a crash involving a school bus are suing the Horry County School District and the South Carolina Department of Education.
Rodney and Cathleen Chaplin filed the suit exactly one year after their 18-year-old son, Marc, was killed when his motorcycle crashed with a bus on International Drive.
The bus driver, Michael Burns, 78, was cited with failure to yield right of way. His trial is scheduled for November 16th.
The suit claims the school district was negligent for hiring Burns. The suit asks for $600,000, plus legal fees.
