(AP) -- The Citadel in Charleston has started a new leadership program focused on sophomores.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that academic leadership director Mick Fekula says sophomores often get lost in their second year.
Fekula says all schools have special programs for freshmen and juniors and seniors have usually settled into a successful college routine.
The Citadel's sophomore leadership program focuses on accountability, integrity and respect. It includes at least 10 hours of community service.
More than 160 cadets spent Election Day working on projects in Charleston and Orangeburg counties.
Fekula says the community service part of the class lets cadets see where leadership is needed.
