The South Carolina Election Commission says reports from polling locations across the state show moderate to heavy turnout.

Officials remind voters that as long as they are in line by 7:00pm, voters will be allowed to cast a ballot.

In a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, Marci Andino, executive director of the state's election commission, said, "Today's high voter turnout is a huge testament to the citizens of South Carolina and their dedication to making their voices heard by casting a ballot in today's election. We appreciate the preparation, enthusiasm and patience of voters who went to the polls and voted today, and encourage those who have not yet voted to do so by 7 p.m. Today."

Andino also thanked the 20,000 poll workers and election officials handling the voting process.
