Voter turnout in our area is said to be heavy for a mid-term election, with long lines reported at several polling places in Horry County.

It wouldn't be election day without a few problems, but voting officials say, for the most part, things have gone smoothly.

A few precincts have reported minor glitches with voting machines, but nothing serious.

One voter who had a problem at Salem Methodist Church on Highway 90 in Conway called the NewsChannel 15 Newsroom. Richard Hoffman says when he showed up to vote this morning, none of the machines were working. He said this isn't the first time. He also had to use a paper ballot during the June Primary. "There was a line of oh, about a hundred of us. After awhile, the paper ballots were gone, and we had to rip up pieces of paper to put our votes on."

Hoffman did return to vote later in the afternoon and tells us everything was back up and running.
