Pool enclosure enforcement begins

For years, Grand Strand hotels have been closing off their outdoor pools for the winter with glass walls, but the Federal Emergency Management Agency says that is hazardous and won't allow it.

The hotels' only recourse is to install vinyl enclosures that FEMA approves, and that can be pricey.

Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce leaders thought the problem was fixed with a bill that passed in the US House of Representatives this summer. But, the bill never made it through the Senate, which has adjourned until mid-November.
