(AP) -- RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Despite numerous weather watches and warnings, portions of central North Carolina are dealing with downed trees, snapped power lines and scattered damages.

The National Weather Service posted tornado watches and warnings for much of piedmont North Carolina Wednesday afternoon and evening. There were reports of tornadoes in Person County, where a home was ripped from its foundation. Multiple media outlets reported that a woman inside the home wasn't hurt.

In Orange County, severe weather blew the roof off of a church. No injuries were reported. Storms were still advancing across the state late Wednesday night. The weather service issued a tornado watch for 16 counties effective until 2 a.m. Thursday.
