Former Australian premier speaks on SC development

(AP) -- The former premier of the state of Queensland in Australia is in South Carolina to talk about economic development and recovery.

Peter Beattie speaks on Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He is a special adviser for economic policy and development for Clemson University.

Beattie is giving a series of lectures during the next month on how the state of Queensland worked with the private sector and research universities to help spur economic development and recovery.
