Court officials tell us a jury found Joe Gathings guilty of murder in the death of Robbie Polston, and Polston's 74-year-old mother Loyce Locklear.
Gathings beat them to death with an aluminum baseball bat at their home in Clio in 2007.
We're told the jury took about two and a half hours to deliberate Thursday afternoon.
Gathings lived with the victims at times.
A few days after the killings, Horry County authorities arrested Gathings following a standoff. Investigators say he barricaded himself inside a Conway home.
Police say Gathings beat up Polston and Locklear in 2006. According to officers, the couple filed charges but later dropped them.
