(AP) -- The Republican seeking to become South Carolina's next attorney general says it's imperative the state stay in the forefront of a federal lawsuit over President Obama's health care reform package.
Alan Wilson said Thursday that South Carolina's portion of costs associated with the lawsuit spearheaded by Attorney General Henry McMaster is minimal compared to what the reforms would cost the state.
Wilson faces Democrat Matthew Richardson in the Nov. 2 general election. Richardson has said he agrees with the lawsuit in principle but says other states should primarily foot the bill.
McMaster says South Carolina and the 19 other states suing the Obama administration are splitting a $50,000 legal bill. Arguments in the case are expected in mid-December.
