(AP) -- It may not be Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but the Chocolate Tree confectionary in downtown Beaufort is been recognized worldwide.

The Beaufort Gazette reports owner Pat Green is being inducted this weekend into the international Candy Hall of Fame.

Green will join such candy legends as Milton Hershey, the developers of Jelly Belly jelly beans and the creators of Peeps marshmallow chicks.

Green accepts the award at the National Confectionery Sales Association's black-tie ceremony in Florida this weekend.

She opened the shop with a friend 30 years ago with the thought of doing cooking demonstrations. But customers wanted chocolates more than lessons.

Green bought out her partner a few years later and has been making and selling chocolates ever since.
