St. James High in Horry County is pretty in pink.
The school "pinked out" for breast cancer awareness. October is breast cancer awareness month.
Students decorated the school entrance and most of the doors. Some of them even dressed in pink.
The idea started with a teacher who is now battling breast cancer. Vocal Arts teacher Sherry Martin told NewsChannel 15, "Tthe students, that has blown me away how much they want to be involved. It seems like this is more important to them than homecoming was. Its amazing."
Students cut up 300 yards of pink plastic sheeting to create bows for the stadium, decorated the front driveway and the lobby.
At the St. James football game tonight, breast cancer survivors will be escorted on the field at half time. And, pink lemonade will be sold with proceeds going to breast cancer research.
